Quote Response

"Good Literature substitutes for experience which we have not ourselves lived through." - Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The speaker means in this quote that books can take you into an adventure that you have never been through before. A book, for example, could take you on a journey through a desert, or an adventure through the artic.

This quote relates to my book, The Call of the Wild. It realtes to my book by putting me into a dog's point of view, and taking me out on a dog sled to the north. I've been in the point of view of a dog. In addition to that, I've never been north (as in Canada, or Alaska).

My Playlist

The first song on my playlist would be Strangers Again by Ari Hest. In the book Ten Little Indians by Agatha Christie, everyone gets to know each other, but then they all get scared of each other. So they went from aqauntinces to strangers again. Another song on my playlist would be Nobody Knows by The Tony Rich Project. In the book Ten Little Indians, nobody knows who is killing everyone. Even after everyone dies, still, nobody knows who does the killings until the last page of the book. The song Get Away by Avant, would also be a good song for my playlist. In the book, everyone wants to get away from the island they are stranded on. The last song in my Ten Little Indians Playlist would be Disappear by Hoobastank. I choose this song because most people who died in the story disappeared, before they are found. Dr. Armstrong, for example, disappeared until they found him in the ocean.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

After I finished Ten Little Indians, I read the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. The book was really confusing in some parts. When Alice first goes to Wonderland, a lot of events happen that were totally unrealistic. The book was really good to read, though, and it was interesting too. It was only 87 pages, so it was a really fast read. I'm now starting to read The Call of the Wild by Jack London. It's kinda brutal right now, so I hope it gets better. :)

The End of Indian Island

I just finished my first book, Indian Island by Agatha Christie. This book was actually really scary to me. There was a lot of gory killings that happended throughout the story. It was also a very mysterious book. I got done with this book so fast because I wanted to see who ended up being the murderer. I was really surprised at the end, and a little creeped out. :)

A Not Poem Response

“Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become.” - C. S. Lewis
The quote, that is not a poem, is very hard to understand. I think that the speaker means that books and writing (literature) makes life more interesting. The speaker is saying that literature adds pleasure to our world.
I am currently reading my second book. The book I am reading is Alice's Adeventures in Wonderland, by Lewiws Carroll. This quote relates to my book by it being entertaining. There are lots of wierd and whacky things going on in my book. This makes the book enjoyable to read.

What about this book do you think will challenge you? How will you deal with that challenge?

This book does not seem too challenging. I think that maybe the wierd color of the pages will distract me a little, though, and the really small print. Ten Little Indians was also published in 1939, so it might have an older vocabulary with words I don't know. I guess that's why we are doing that dictionary thing with the words we don't know. I'll just have to try my best to understand the book. :)

What book did you choose, and why did you choose it?

I chose the book Ten Little Indians by Agatha Christie. I want to read this book because it is a mystery story. I like reading mystery stories because they keep you mystified at every chapter. I also asked my dad about which book I should read, and he suggested this book. I hope I like it. :)
